Homemade Bourbon Cranberry Sauce


Homemade bourbon cranberry sauce

12 oz fresh cranberries

 ½ cup fresh orange juice

6 tablespoons brown sugar

1 lemon

¼ cup water

2 tablespoons bourbon

 

First cut 3 sliver2 of the lemon peel about the size of your thumb and place into a medium saucepan with the rest of the ingredients and bring to a simmer. Continue to stir the simmering sauce until all of the berries have become soft and the sauce has thickened. Taste the sauce to see if you need to add anymore brown sugar depending on how sweet you would like it to be and adjust accordingly.  Once the sauce has cooled it will thicken more.
